Exquisite Corpse Soundscape and Artist Statement

Artist Statement: For my Exquisite Corpse Soundtrack, I chose to create a scene of peace and relaxation using the sounds of water and animals.

In the first movement, a rainstorm is starting. For this, different clips of water and drips were combined to become the sound of rain. I found that I accidentally hyper-focused on this section since I was determined to capture the essence of “rain” - and lost some quality in the rest of the piece.


The second movement starts when the rain ends, and animals are appearing. There is a cat purring, and some chickens wandering about happily. This section could have been made better by adding in a wider variety of sounds to prevent boredom by repetition.

The third movement takes to the skies with song birds singing. This section is supposed to represent happiness and harmony. The movement closes by the rainstorm gently starting up again.


Because I spent so much time on the rain, I did not realize how choppy this section sounded, so there are two links below; the one to the original from the critique and the one I have cleaned up in places I realized did not sound how I intend them to:
